Sedation Dentistry and a Trained Sedation Dentist Can Change Your Life

If you are afraid to go to the dentist, relax! Sedation dentistry and a trained sedation dentist can change your life for the better with a light sedative!

You can have the beautiful smile and the good dental health you’ve always wanted with sedation dentistry. Ask your dentist about more benefits of pain-free conscious sedation.

Imagine being able to smile with confidence and chew your food without pain. A sedation dentist and conscious sedation dentistry makes it possible to be totally relaxed during your dental treatment, as if you were asleep.

You won’t feel any discomfort and likely won’t remember much of the the treatment itself. Because you’ll be completely comfortable, your sedation dentist can do many dental care procedures during the same visit, including:

  • Fillings & Crowns
  • Repairing chipped teeth
  • Oral surgery
  • Root canals
  • Gum treatments

Best of all, you’ll probably only need one or two appointments with a dentist using sedation dentistry. So in hours you can start enjoying the confidence that comes with a bright new smile and good dental health.

You will be conscious enough to respond to directions like (open or close your mouth), but sedated just enough to be unaware of the treatment being performed, as if you were taking a light nap.

Along with the oral sedation tablets taken before your appointment, we often use Nitrous Oxide, a gas that is helpful in increasing the sedative effect of the oral tablets.

Plus sedation dentistry is safe. Before we begin work, we will thoroughly review your medical history, and then monitor your blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen level closely during your conscious sedation dental treatment.

Relax with ...Nitrous Oxide - Laughing Gas

Nitrous oxide is simply a gas which you can breathe in and breathe out. It's colorless, sweet smelling, and non-irritating, and it allows for safer, quicker, and more comfortable dental care. It allows our patients to breathe a combination of nitrous oxide and oxygen while enjoying a remarkable depth of relaxation. It virtually eliminates the fear, nervousness, and tension associated with dental procedures. You remain in complete control, you are conscious, and you can follow directions.

What are the advantages? Laughing gas, which is what nitrous oxide is sometimes referred to, works very rapidly. It reaches the brain within 20 seconds, and relaxation and painkilling properties develop after two or three minutes.

The depth of sedation can be altered from moment to moment allowing us to increase or decrease the depth of sedation.

With nitrous oxide it is easy to give incremental doses until the desired action is obtained. For certain procedures, especially those involving soft tissues such as scaling and root planing, inhalation sedation such as nitrous oxide may be used instead of local anesthesia. Results with Nitrous Oxide do vary from person to person, so if you would like to explore its use Call us at 592-4398 and we can see if it is right for you.
